Results (independent street survey) 

 

  • Over 42,000 visits to the Quit 16 website
  • 80% of smokers surveyed in the North East and 48% in Yorkshire and Humber recalled the campaign (that would mean an est. 737,000 smokers) 
  • 39.5% (NE) and 46% (Y&H) of smokers surveyed who recalled the campaign said they'd taken some sort of action towards quitting as a result. This includes steps from talking about stopping with family or friends, cutting down, switching to an electronic cigarette, avoiding places where people smoke and actually quitting. That would mean an est. 318,000 smokers taking some sort of action as a result. 
  • 69% (NE) and 77% (Y&H) of smokers surveyed who recalled the campaign said it had made them more concerned about their smoking 
  • 8.4% (NE) and 11% (Y&H) of smokers surveyed who recalled the campaign said they had made a quit attempt as a result (that would mean an est. 72,000 smokers) 
  • 16% (NE) and 26% (Y&H) of smokers surveyed who recalled the campaign said they had cut down as a result (that would mean an est. 159,400 people) and 4% switched to an electronic cigarette or vaping device (est 17,000 people)
